Non-Toxic Toys for the Holidays: Wooden Cash Register

Holidays are upon us and the search for non-toxic toys is on! My 4 year old daughter is really interested in numbers these days, and has requested a cash register as a holiday present. So, below you'll find my collection of Cash Registers that are non-toxic (limited use of plastics, preferably NOT made in china). If anyone has any others to add to the list, please add it in the comments.

This one is from The Play Store. $59.95


It's made from Alder wood. However, not sure it really conveys what we are looking for in a cash register. According to the description on their web site, you can press the buttons, but in order for the numbers in the display to change, you have to turn the crank. Charming, non-toxic, but not sure it really does the job. I'm going to keep looking.

Description from their web site: There are 11 working buttons, a bell, cash and coin drawer, even a paper roll to keep track of the purchases. It's cute, but where are the numbers? I need something that has the numbers - that's one of the main reasons my daughter wants one of these.

This one is cute, it comes with play money, has buttons with numbers, and an area where kids can write numbers on a erasable pad. This may be the one we go for. It comes really close to what we need, without being electronic or plastic.

Still a bit more research to do. Will probably post again on this one.
